Feeling Happy & Thankful

We had a truly wonderful time with our family this week. My mother and father-in-law were here along with my oldest niece and nephew. We enjoyed 3 days full of jam packed fun and adventure!ย
We kicked off the adventure Monday at the Winter Park Resort Alpine Slides… the longest slides in Colorado. We had a blast as expected.

After a fun-filled day at the slides we headed (the long way back) to Fort Collins through Rocky Mountain National Park. Such a beautiful, yet thrilling drive where the landscape never gets dull… this photo above doesn’t even begin to capture the awesomeness of the view. The cloud you see in the photo was moving at a very quick pace which made it look as though it was a white wave pouring over that mountain top… truly amazing.

Tuesday, we stayed in Fort Collins and toured around the city. One of our stops was the beautiful Gardens on Spring Creek. They have a wonderful children’s garden area that includes this little koi pond in which they invite kids (and adults, too) to pet Kobe the Koi. He is the most beloved member at the gardens, but careful not to throw rocks in the pond as he has been injured before. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Next, we trekked through Old Town Fort Collins and enjoyed some Stuft burgers for lunch.

Wednesday, we ventured to Boulder, walked around Pearl Street and ate again… this time at Wahoos, known for their fish tacos, but definitely have something for everyone… we were quite excited about this place for several reasons… 1) It was super yummy,ย 2) there’s one in Fort Collins and 3) kids eat free on Wednesday evenings! Wahoo! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Next, we headed to the Butterfly Pavilion in Denver. This place is so cool! We went last Summer and loved it and returning there was just as great as the first time. I will never tire of walking around the Butterfly rain forest area watching them flit and float all around me, snapping shots every chance I get. So thrilling!

Even more thrilling was watching my husband hold a tarantula!! Yup, Rosie the Tarantula… anyone ages 3 or older can have a chance…

but, in our group of 8… only 2 were brave enough to earn their badge! ๐Ÿ™‚

Each evening was spent vegging in front of the television catching up on the Olympic action. It was truly a wonderful visit and we already miss them! But, we are feeling so happy and thankful for the wonderful time we had together and all the great memories that we made.

Hope you have a fantastic weekend and that it ends with you feeling happy and thankful too! ๐Ÿ™‚
